Summer camp for the little ones in the village where country life slices right through town. Our beautiful summer mornings will be filled with creative fun with Miss D.J. Listen to a story, relax under a shade tree. Wade in the creek, collect grasses, flowers and rocks. Paint a picture. Make a print, sculpt in clay. Bring your sketchbook and we'll also draw, draw, draw! Save your art for our annual student show. 9:30 - 11:30 AM
Instructor: Debra McHargue (Miss D.J.) $90/week (7 year-olds will be placed on an individual basis and may do 1/2 day or full day, depending on the mix of the class. Class minimum is 5, maximum is 10).

Full-Day Art Camps
Ages 8 and up
SUMMER ART DAY CAMP AROUND THE FALLS 9:30-4:30
with Debra McHargue
$185 for the week; $100 for half days all week
Take a tour of Mill Gallery, then hike to picturesque sites in
historic Honeoye Falls to sketch. Picnic by the falls on Honeoye
Creek, and finish the details back at the Mill. Enjoy sketching
animals, creek landscapes, architecture and gardens. Collect
treasures found on our hikes for a collage. Join in on tales of
local history and legend. Wear sport sandals for wading in the
creek! Wear clothes that can don't mind getting dirty or splashed.
Real summer fun!
Pencils, pastels and paints provided. Bring your sketchbook,
water bottle and lunch.

12:30-1:30 LUNCH
1:30-4:30 A variety of afternoon art experiences
Dig into clay each morning with Robin Whiteman or Bill Shaw, try sculpting
and throwing onthe potters wheel. We will experiment with techniques
like combining colored clays, slip painting and creating unique
stamps in clay. Nature will inspire us as we hunt for new forms and textures out
doors. Dress in mud and painting clothes!
12:30-1:30 Bring your lunch and we'll enjoy summer picnicking
outside on lovely days.

1:30-4:30 The afternoons will be filled with a delightful variety
of art excursions and studio projects. Mon and Weds design
and create garden sculptures or shadowboxes with Pamela Harwood. Tues
and Thurs have fun with 'Fairies, Gnomes and their garden homes, make windchimes and your own percussion instrument with Jill Woodruff, or enjoy painting with Betsy Taylor.
Fridays venture out to draw summer landscapes on our nature
trails around the village. Bring a sketchbook and eraser and lunch.
Art supplies and snacks provided.
LITTLE MASTERS
Little artists will work in the studio in a class geared specially for 4 to 6 year olds! We'll be learning about the art of some of our favorite masters. Then we'll paint sunflowers in the style of Van Gogh, create patterns and bright colors in the style of Matisse, or make paper "Cubist" collages in the style of Picasso! Miss Pamela will have exciting new artists each week.

BASIC CARTOONING
We will begin with basics; character drawings, story telling, exaggeration and expression. We will then explore story ideas to make simple three panel comics. After that, we will learn about comic book page design and create our own story. If we are adventurous, we will dive into full comic book design, cover to cover. Bring your creative juices and spiral bound sketchbook to keep ideas for character development all in one place.

DRAWING FIGURES & FACES - Portfolio Series
Learn how to render people, likenesses, hands and feet: the really tough stuff
when it comes to drawing people! Loosen up with several quick gesture
drawings of live models, then focus on longer studies of the human form. This is a necessity for the future art major's portfolio. (Models will be clothed.) Supplies provided.
Who :: Ages 11 and up
Fee :: $18 per class, some supplies provided
Class Dates :: 4 Thursdays, 2:00-4:00 PM, August 5, 12, 19, 24
JEWELRY: SILVER RINGS AND PENDANTS
Design and create your own silver ring or pendant. Take your concepts to the drawing board, then build or carve in casting waxes. The wax forms become the molds for the casting of silver, which will be done professionally for you. Then you will clean, buff and polish your jewelry. Make several and pay extra only for the silver.

BASIC DRAWING & PAINTING
You've always known you had talent, and now you have a little time to spend on yourself. Learn to draw, from the basics! With demonstrations and careful one-on-one lessons, Betsy will start you drawing in black and white. Learn how to sketch the things you see, then how to draw the forms and shadows, perspective and create a pleasing composition. Drawing techniques will be introduced. Color and painting techniques will be introduced. Bring a sketchpad and erasers, we'll provide the rest.

AFTERNOON CLAY CLASS
Experiment with handbuilding and sculpting techniques or throw on the potter's wheel. New students and experienced clay lovers welcome. All clay, glazes, and firings are included in cost. Come as many open studio days as you like. Tuesdays and thursdays from 1-3:00pm / ages 8 and up $25 per drop in class or $92 for 4 prepaid classes.

PORTFOLIO CLASS
Round out your portfolio for college submission. Our instructor reviews portfolios and teaches drawing and 2 D design at RIT. Don't let another semester go by and get caught unprepared during your busy senior fall application time!
