2 D IN THE STUDIO - Portfolio Series
One of the portfolio series designed to encourage young artists to grow in their skills and develop their repertroire. Work with a variety of media, experiment with techniques. Discover your own style. Denise will guide you through design and drawing problems she has taught college freshman. Betsy will introduce you to oils and acrylics.

DRAWING FIGURES & FACES - Portfolio Series
Learn how to render people, likenesses, hands and feet: the really tough stuff when it comes to drawing people! Loosen up with several quick gesture drawings of live models, then focus on longer studies of the human form. This is a necessity for the future art major's portfolio. Models will be clothed. PORTRAIT PAINTING-Portfolio Series

FANTASY ON CANVAS
Bring 2 canvases or canvas-boards, a basic set of 5 or 6 Acrylic paints and a set of small acrylic brushes, and Julie will introduce you to the realm of fantasy painting! Start with inspiration from the Lord of the Rings, What Dreams May Come, Transformers or any book or movie that inspires you to create invented lands, magical forests, dreamworlds, or machines and creatures.

TUESDAY NIGHT CLAY
Join our class to try your hand at throwing pots on the wheel. Learn the basics, with throwing and handbuilding technique demos, then immerse yourself in the delightful, tactile world of clay. Glaze, fire, and take home! All supplies included. Recommended to complete Portfolio Series.

BASIC PASTELS

PAINTING
Expert instruction for all levels in oil and acrylics. Students will use still life to explore color, design and composition, or they may work on their own projects. This is an advanced class.

JEWELRY: SILVER RINGS and PENDANTS
Design and create your own silver ring or pendant. Take your concepts to the drawing board, then build or carve in casting waxes. The wax forms become the molds for the casting of silver, which will be done professionally for you. Then you will clean, buff and polish your finished jewelry. Make several pieces, try different styles and pay extra only for the silver used in the casting.

NEEDLE FELTING
Learn to create sculptures and wall hangings with wool, using felting needles. Wool types and felting tools will be discussed and students will leave with a completed small project.

CREATIVE JOURNEYING
Get to the root of your creative self. No matter what roles you play in life, you are in essence a creative being. Come explore this reality with other seekers through guided visualization, drumming, and artistic play with a variety of art materials. Supplies included.

STILL LIFE IN WATERCOLOR
Using flowers, still lifes and fabrics or from your own photos, we will work to create colorful watercolors. Emphasis will be placed on direct painting with large brushes so the painting remains fresh and lively. Cathy will demonstrate and offer technical help and guidance. Please bring your own watercolor supples including - 140 lb. paper, backing board and clips or watercolor blocks, good quality brushes, ( round - size 12, flat - 1'') tube paints , a large plastic palette and watercolor easel (optional). Call or email Cathy if you have questions. This 3-hour class is for students with some knowledge of drawing and previous watercolor experience.

MAKING MONOTYPES
Explore the art of monotypes - a combination of painting and printmaking that produces one-of-a-kind images in this introductory class. You will work with various media on flat plates to create unique prints. We will experiment with additive (work directly on a plate) and subtractive (develope image by what you remove from a plate) techniques you can extend in your own studio without need of special printmaking equipment. This class is open to artists of all levels who are or would like to be adventurous with materials and ideas. Weather permitting, we can create plates "plein air" and then print indoors. May limit class size to optimize student experience.
